God bless you.Main Text: Genesis 28:10-22 & Acts 10:9-22During our earthly journey many times we are not consciously seeking God’s presence and communications. Distractions happen that are not necessarily sinful, nor considered a running away from God. During these times, God doesn’t seem to be part of life’s equation. So, it seems in the context of the early part of Jacob’s story where from Genesis 25:19 to our passage, Jacob, Isaac, Rebekah & Esau are steeped in family intrigue and deceptions. There is no clear interaction with God. Jacob stole Esau’s birthright in Genesis 27. Jacob’s very name = “supplanter” or “deceiver.” And in that primitive religious culture the blessing was irreversible, and Esau swore revenge and Rebekah & Isaac wanted to keep Jacob alive. Again, no thought of God as someone to be sought to help provide a solution. Rather it seems to be primarily a story of deception, conflict and common-sense solutions until 28:10-22.Note these stories, like some of our own personal stories of conflict and intrigue are sovereignly transformed by God into experiences of redemption. (Note in Genesis 25: 19-35, Esau and Jacob reconcile with God’s help.) But there are periods of time where we struggle and wander in the midst of our worldly experiences unconscious of God’s presence and potential participation.
