Listen "Is your uniqueness causing problems?"
Episode Synopsis
Let me tell you a story. I was helping a woman once overcome resistance to starting a business she had always wanting. She was telling me her pattern of procrastination, and I said yea, that’s a pretty common pattern. She responded, what, I thought I was the only one. So, what was holding her back was a need to be unique or different, because this pattern made her feel unique, a part of her brain was holding on to it to keep feeling unique, like I have this problem no one else has. Sometimes we hold on to sabotaging behaviors because they make us feel special and different. Even though they bring nothing but pain and frustration, there’s a benefit of feeling special or different. Knowing that a unique problem you’re holding on to is quite common can be enough to make your brain let it go, so I wanna say most of the unhealthy patterns you’re using to feel unique or special are quite common, and most people are also using them to feel unique and special too. Hopefully hearing that can release those patterns you’re not unknowingly using to create unnecessary frustration in your life.
