Revelation 14

The Lamb and the One Hundred Forty-Four Thousand

1Then I looked, and there was the Lamb, standing on Mount Zion, and with him one hundred forty-four thousand who had his name and his Father’s name written on their foreheads. 2And I heard a sound from heaven like the roar of many waters and like a great peal of thunder. The sound I heard was like harpists playing their harps. 3They sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders. No one could learn that song except the one hundred forty-four thousand who had been redeemed from the earth. 4These are those who have not defiled themselves with women, for they are virgins. They follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They were redeemed from among humanity as firstfruits for God and for the Lamb, 5and no lie was found in their mouths; they are blameless.

Three Angels Proclaim Judgment

6Then I saw another angel flying overhead in midair, with an eternal gospel to proclaim to those who dwell on the earth — to every nation, tribe, language, and people. 7He called out in a loud voice, “Fear God, and give him glory, for the hour of his judgment has come. Worship him who made heaven and earth, the sea and the springs of water.” 8Then another angel, a second, followed, saying, “Fallen, fallen is Babylon the great, who made all the nations drink the wine of the passion of her sexual immorality.” 9A third angel followed them, saying in a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and its image, and receives its mark on their forehead or on their hand, 10they too will drink the wine of God’s fury, poured undiluted into the cup of his anger, and they will be tormented with fire and sulfur in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. 11The smoke of their torment goes up forever and ever, and there is no rest, day or night, for those who worship the beast and its image, or for anyone who receives the mark of its name.” 12This calls for the patient endurance of the saints, who keep the commandments of God and hold fast to the faith of Jesus. 13Then I heard a voice from heaven, saying, “Write: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Yes,” says the Spirit, “let them rest from their labors, for their works follow them.”

The Harvest of the Earth

14Then I looked, and there was a white cloud, and seated on the cloud was someone like a son of man, with a golden crown on his head and a sharp sickle in his hand. 15Then another angel came out of the temple, calling out in a loud voice to the one seated on the cloud, “Swing your sickle and reap, for the hour to reap has come, because the harvest of the earth is ripe.” 16So the one seated on the cloud swung his sickle over the earth, and the earth was harvested. 17Then another angel came out of the temple in heaven, and he too held a sharp sickle. 18And still another angel, who has authority over fire, came from the altar and called out in a loud voice to the one with the sharp sickle, “Swing your sharp sickle and gather the clusters of grapes from the earth’s vine, because its grapes are ripe.” 19So the angel swung his sickle over the earth, gathered the earth’s grapes, and threw them into the great winepress of God’s fury. 20The winepress was trampled outside the city, and blood flowed out of it, as high as a horse’s bridle, for a distance of one thousand six hundred stadia.
