These are those who have not defiled themselves with women, for they are virgins. They follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They were redeemed from among humanity as firstfruits for God and for the Lamb,
In context
2And I heard a sound from heaven like the roar of many waters and like a great peal of thunder. The sound I heard was like harpists playing their harps. 3They sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders. No one could learn that song except the one hundred forty-four thousand who had been redeemed from the earth. 4These are those who have not defiled themselves with women, for they are virgins. They follow the Lamb wherever he goes. They were redeemed from among humanity as firstfruits for God and for the Lamb, 5and no lie was found in their mouths; they are blameless. 6Then I saw another angel flying overhead in midair, with an eternal gospel to proclaim to those who dwell on the earth — to every nation, tribe, language, and people.
