Geeks: “Nerds” Are Now Sexy!

In the 2010s, in the 21st century, those formerly known as Nerds came to be known as Geeks, and unlike the publicity they received at the end of the previous century, trends began to emerge on television positioning them as successful professionals. In light of this, the ZARZA Engineers take on the subject in a playful way, and share with us different reasons behind what led those who were once ridiculed to become, today, successful entrepreneurs, multimillionaires, and moreover to stand at the evolutionary forefront of Information Technology.

Geek is the new sexy!

Geeks, nerds are now SexyThis English phrase has become popular among followers of Information Technology, and their partners, and has created a wave of products from t-shirts, caps, mugs, stickers, and so on. The reasons? It seems to point to the fact that the quiet ones, the rejected ones, top the lists of the world’s multimillionaires, where perhaps the most outstanding example is Bill Gates, the typical “four-eyes” with a rather plain face, who has topped the list of the world’s richest men several times, and among his “competition” we find other names with similar characteristics such as Jeff Bezzos, Sergey Brin and Larry Page. Let’s stop there.

Is being sexy basically about money? No, the reality is that the mix of intelligence and going against the current turns out, according to the new trends, to be something interesting for the opposite sex.

Added to this, the television industry has fostered, with series such as The Big Bang Theory and The IT Crowd, evidence that the new bad boys are those who, in addition to having excellent jobs and economic stability, are skilled in information technology, where many episodes deal with the use of techniques that fall somewhere between White Hat Hacking and the hacker threat we have already discussed in the past.

Now Superheroes are not only in the comic books…!

The birth of comic books was one of the first identifiers of Geeks, since they were among the few who enjoyed reading science fiction stories, and they are the ones who steadfastly backed the great Superheroes of our time, so that today they even have blockbuster movies.

Some clear examples of Superheroes considered Sexy, who are also Geeks:

  • Batman: He is the quintessential Geek Superhero, who with his belt full of technology and his suit, mega loaded with gadgets, fights crime. In his human personality he is an introverted and popular philanthropist, and he is wealthy, which brings him even closer to the successful Geeks of our time.
  • Ironman: Anthony Edward “TonyStark is the most advanced display of technology applied by a Geek in the movies, where in addition to having a very high IQ, he is a lover of study and of new energy trends.
  • Wonder Woman: Wonder Woman used a plane so technologically advanced that it could become invisible.

Women are sexy, and even more so if they are Geeks

Another of the worldwide phenomena that has made being a Geek sexy nowadays is that women now enjoy dressing up and showing off their beautiful attributes in costumes that were previously the exclusive interest of Nerds, and with this, they have managed to give their seal of approval to the claim that Geeks are now Sexy, and for those who wish to see some examples, we share some of the images that can be seen in the so-called Cosplays.

What more can be said about Geeks?

A term that has gained popularity and that also reminds us of part of the wisdom of Mahatma Gandhi, who moves us with the following quote:

First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they attack you, then you win.Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi

We say goodbye for today, but not before inviting you to kiss a Geek today and save the whales keep enjoying your day with a zarza attitude.
