Sol Selectas is excited to present the first solo EP from Egyptian artist Tamer Elderini on the label. “Kalam” translates to “words” in Arabic, and this EP uses music as the language to express human connection and emotion.

Each song blends Arabic vocals with Mediterranean instrumentation, flowing from downtempo, to organic, to afro, with fluid motion and refined production skills.

“Kalam” features the baglama and clarinet over a deep driving bassline. “Baladoka” features the zurna over an afro groove, elevated further with a kanun solo by contributing artist Bassam Rady.

"Lotus" features an epic trumpet melody paired with desert percussion and relentless grooves, and finally “Manazel” closes out the Ep on a beautiful note, featuring violin, Ney, Oud and Lyre, over a deep downtempo groove.

The artwork by Helia Jamali transports listeners into a mystical landscape where the spirit of Kalam echoes through the mountains.
