Chapter 11 of the Gita and Purusha Sukta express the same concept - universal form of the consciousness in a poetic way to say that whatever & wherever we see - we see infinite bellies, eyes, ears, hands, legs. This is a poetic expression of the multitude that we experience in the universe - another way of saying that the consciousness which underlies everything we experience is the same in all beings. Brings out the aspect that we need to cultivate respect for all beings.
