Over the last few days, in anticipation of a holiday, I invested time and effort, dedication and intentionality into preparing a small gift for my friends. Then the day came. I got ready early and left for our meeting.Once I arrived, I realized I didn't have the gift in my bag.I ran to my car, heart racing, steps quick, that mix of frustration and disbelief trailing right behind me. I opened the door, looked around instinctively… and there it was. Nowhere! That’s when it hit me.The gift wasn’t in my bag, nor in the car.It was still at home. Not just nearby. but miles away.In that moment, I had a choice:Do I go back and be late?Or do I move forward without something I had poured so much intention into? How often does life put us in that exact place?Unexpected turns. Small disruptions. Moments that seem minor, but carry the power to shift our mood, our focus, even our faith. What happens when things don’t go according to our plans? When people don’t respond the way we expected? When the effort we gave doesn’t immediately show results?Do we let it shake us?Do we allow a small inconvenience to take authority over our attitude?I’ll be honest, I felt disappointed. Deeply. One of those “double D” moments… discouraged and disheartened. But I made a decision.I ran back home.I got the gift.I showed up late, but I showed up with intention in my hands. And in the end, I was able to put a smile on my friends’ faces. And that… is what counts.Because life isn’t defined by the curveballs, it’s defined by our response to them. It’s not the mistake that shapes us, but what we do after. It’s not the delay, but the determination. It’s not the frustration, but the follow-through.At the end of the day, what matters is that what we carried in our hearts… we still chose to deliver. That’s what I’m choosing. What about you?BW
