Listen "Meijer's 1¢ Sandy the Pony is SAFE, despite demise of the penny"
Episode Synopsis
While it's curtains for the penny, Sandy the Pony is here to stay! The folks at Meijer have assured WWJ Newsradio 950 that Sandy — which famously costs 1¢ to ride — is not going away despite that the penny will no longer be stamped at the U.S. Mint.
Meijer historian Lisa VanArragon said the company wants to keep Sandy affordable for families, and a long term plan is in the works. She spoke with WWJ's Amanda Forrester about Sandy's backstory, and enduring fandom.
