Listen "WURD Radio, WVON and The Triibe Simulcast - 10.15.25"

Episode Synopsis

Times are tense in Chicago, where ICE has been a steady presence and drew the nation’s attention after a Sept. 30th raid on an apartment building in the city’s South Shore neighborhood. Residents, including children and elderly residents – Black and Brown – reported being pulled out of their homes in the middle of the night and having helicopters swoop down on the building. Donald Trump has tried to deploy National Guard troops from Texas to Chicago, ostensibly to protect ICE. While that move has been blocked by an appeals court judge, the guard is still stationed just outside Chicago. In the meantime, residents across the city are resisting ICE as they witness behaviors that many call flagrantly abusive and even unconstitutional.

We were joined by WVON's Afternoon Drive Hosts Atiba Bachanan and LaDonna Raeh, and Editor-In-Chief of The Triibe Tiffany Walden to discuss their thoughts on what is happening in Chicago.

We were also joined by Maurice Woodard, a Chicago organizer who witnessed federal agents choking a Black man on the city’s West Side to discuss what he has witnessed in Chicago.

Philadelphia Councilwoman Kendra Brooks joined Dr. Peterson to discuss a resolution she introduced in City Council condemning Donald Trump's National Guard deployments.
