Rep. Young was elected to represent the 185th Legislative District in November of 2020. She is a community organizer, former educator, and founded and served as Executive Director of Empowered Community Development Corporation.
Xeyah Martin is the current Executive Director of Empowered Community Development Corporation. It uplifts, and connects Philadelphia’s more vulnerable and often overlooked communities to resources they need to grow and thrive.
While Empowered CDC has traditionally served Southwest Philadelphia, they have expanded their efforts to support residents in West & South Philadelphia.
They both joined Dr. Peterson on Evening WURDs to talk about the Southwest Philly Night Market on August 30th, and their all-around work in West, South and Southwest Philadelphia.
