Listen "The Good News of Christmas: Hope"
Episode Synopsis
Hope can be an expression of confidence or it can be an expression of doubt. Hope, as defined by the Merriam-Webster dictionary, is "to expect with confidence." Another definition by the Merriam-Webster dictionary is "to want something to happen or be true and think that it could happen or be true." Measuring our level of hope is like taking our temperature. It reflects something going on deeper below the surface. Just under the surface, many people have deep mistrust or doubt in God. When God doesn't show up in the way we want or expect, our hope in him starts to waiver. When we experience what feels like silence from God, our doubt meter starts to rise. But in the midst of our doubts and questions, he is a God who keeps his promises. We don't have to walk away from our faith or the church to work through our doubts. We can have full confidence in God's ability to do the impossible in our lives. We can cling to the promise of his faithful, constant presence in our lives that will see us through whatever circumstances we are facing. When we look back on our lives and God's word, we begin to see a pattern of his faithfulness towards us and his people, all throughout history. From the darkest, most hidden, and unseen places, the hope of Jesus shines.
