You know what’s great about anthology films?  Variety.  If you don’t love one story–hang on, you might love the next one.  In our last episode we explored the 1943 anthology, Flesh and Fantasy, which introduced us to the director Julien Duvivier.  Now, Jennifer is no film historian or expert or anything–she's just a classic film enthusiast–and that is a name she didn’t know.  Well, this time around, we’re going to explore another of Duvivier’s films, Tales of Manhattan.  Like Flesh and Fantasy, today’s film is a mixed bag–a couple of pretty good stories, one that’s OK, and one that’s extremely weird–and not in a cool way.  Let’s explore the film and its director, on today’s episode of The Vintage Century Idle Hour.
