Listen "Overcoming Worry - God's Promises"
Episode Synopsis
Romans Chapter 8 is full of well-known verses that enable us to be extremely positive about our lives even in the midst of great challenge. Without a doubt this chapter is rich with deep theological truth. Yet if we were to simplify an important theme of the latter verses we could summarise Paul's words in this way. God is on our side. His love continually flows over us. He is always at work in our lives to bless us. The wonderful promises of God bring us to a place in our thinking where we can declare a key and life changing truth. If God is for us, who can be against us!
We all know that God is real. He is always there with us. But sometimes we forget that He is for us. He is on our side. We are His precious children. Paul goes on to say that He did not even spare His own son so that we could be brought back into the family of God. We can overcome worry with a simple and clear mindset. If God is for us who can be against us! Take in the great encouragement that God's promises create as you read these verses.
RO 8:31-39 If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all--how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who is he that condemns? Christ Jesus, who died--more than that, who was raised to life--is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword? As it is written: "For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered. "No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
