Welcome to Towards Justice, a podcast about some of the inspiring people who fought in the Civil Rights Movement in America. Each episode profiles a different veteran and illustrates how the lessons of the 1960s Freedom Struggle paved the way for a life devoted to social justice. The podcast title is based on the quote, made famous by Martin Luther King Jr., that “the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice.” On the steps of Alabama’s State Capitol in March 1965, King spoke those iconic words to mark the end of the historic Selma to Montgomery Campaign. In honour of this sixtieth anniversary, Towards Justice seeks to revive Dr King’s hopeful message and inspire listeners that individuals are still working towards the goal of justice in the United States today. The podcast is hosted by Hannah Simpson, a British documentary Assistant Producer, who has studied United States History and Politics in the UK and America.
