The Rubik’s Cube was invented in 1974 by architecture professor Erno Rubik. To celebrate the cube’s 40th anniversary, there have been 474 official competitions worldwide in 2014. Feliks Zemdegs holds the world record for AVERAGE time: 6.54 seconds, and can solve it one-handed in 14 seconds (on average) and blindfolded in 1min 30sec.
