Listen "The Right Time to Sign with an Agent"
Episode Synopsis
Georgie and Pierce are here to give the info on everything you need to know to make an informed decision on when to sign with an agent. At what point do you stop being self-representing to get better opportunities that you cannot gain yourself? What makes a good agent and how do you find one?KEY TAKEAWAYSAgents that you can gain early in your career usually take on as many clients as they possibly can to maximise their income. Unfortunately, this business model does not give them time to find work opportunities for you. Unless an agent can be sure to make money from you, they are unlikely to take you on their books. Make sure your showreel and headshots are good to gain the attention of agents. Keep trying, because your content could always need updating or tweaking. If you build up your acting work, the more experience you have in any project, the more an agent is likely to take an interest in you. Sort your mindset. You are going to receive knockbacks and disappointments. Understand that you are on the right path. BEST MOMENTS‘It’s usually a case of having to self-represent for a while. Agent representation is something that every actor will need at some point in their career. But the question is, is it something that you should be doing right now?’ – Georgie ‘They’re only gonna take on people that they know they can earn from. They know that they can go up against actors who have been doing this for the last 15 to 20 years, full-time, auditioning multiple times a week. They’re only gonna take you on if they know you can hold your own in that particular room.’ – Pierce ‘Your working with your agent, your working relationship should be 100% a collaboration. Your agent doesn’t work for you, you don’t work for your agent. You work together.’ – Pierce ‘There’s always gonna be hurdles. There’s always gonna be fear. Fear by nature pops up again and again… Find ways to combat it, and that’s all to do with mindset.’ – Georgie VALUABLE RESOURCEShttps://chat.whatsapp.com/LUWz5ZlIg0sH0F27Zs7Cnq https://www.actorswarehouse.co.uk/ https://Www.instagram.com/Actorswarehouse/ https://Twitter.com/Weareacting/ ABOUT THE HOSTS Georgie King and Pierce Connelly are a couple and business partners with experience in TV, film and theatre.
