Listen "A Soldier for Saint Francis: St. Elizabeth of Hungary (Joanne Wright) - 11/20/24"
Episode Synopsis
11/20/24 - Elizabeth of Hungary traveled what many would consider to be an unusual path to sainthood. The daughter of King Andrew II, one might assume that Elizabeth would place wealth and societal status at the forefront of her life. However, she instead chose to devote the majority of her short life to helping the sick and the poor, eventually joining the Third Order of St. Francis. A number of miracles occurred during Elizabeth's earthly life, the most well-known of which depicts her carrying loaves of bread which were suddenly transformed into roses. We'll unpack all of the details to pull back the curtain on the life of this patron saint of Christian charity whose feast day we celebrated on November 17th.
