Listen "The Contrast of Wisdom and Folly"
Episode Synopsis
This morning we continue in our study through the book of Ecclesiastes looking at Ecclesiastes 7:1-29. The Preacher of Ecclesiastes goes through a series of "better than" statements comparing and contrasting wisdom and folly. A wise person will think about death, while a fool thinks only about having a good time. A fool doesn't reflect on life, the time given, or how you will be remembered at death. The Preacher shows the foolishness of corruption, impatience, anger, nostalgia. He shows that we all need wisdom. He concludes, "See, this alone I found, that God made man upright, but they have sought out many schemes" (Ecclesiastes 7:29). The Preacher points us to true wisdom and the one man who was upright and righteous. Jesus is the one man among humanity who has lived a wise and righteous life. In the passage we see the wisdom of living in community and welcoming others to speak into our lives. We show our value of wisdom in our desire to be known and seen by others. The more that we seek Jesus it will be demonstrated in the way that we live.
