A lot of people would like to portray MK Gandhi as 'Father of the Nation', even though he had no role to play by his own admission. 'British Left voluntarily', MKG said. His main contribution has been a vapid concept of Ahinsa, which he claimed to have got from Hindu shastra, without giving any evidence of the same. His politics was a disaster, his claims to sainthood dubious, and he was directly responsible for the massacre of at least 1 million Hindus in 1947 alone. Sanjay Dixit examines.
