Listen "Episode 37 - Bill Long and his critique of the GRDC"
Episode Synopsis
The 2nd part of the Bill Long interview is about his critique of the GRDC and Grains industry RD&E in general. Critique might sound like a bit of a negative word, but it's not; it's great to hear from people like Bill who tell it like it is and with an informed opinion. He outlines what he thinks needs to change, but also praises the many things that are going right.Bill sent us an email with his reply to the "Boots Off Log On" podcast we alerted him to, which featured Paul McKenzie, a respected fellow consultant and Farmer in WA. Paul outlined how he thought changes could be made to the Grains industry RD&E and the GRDC, and how this would benefit Farmers. We were lucky to have Bill, who has been extensively involved with the GRDC, share his thoughts on what Paul said in the podcast. The main concern is around the billion-dollar war chest currently being held by the GRDC, and also, Bill points out that a lot of the great research being done is not making it to the Farm level. If you are in the Cropping game or want to hear an opinion of one of the best brains in the business, then make sure you listen in. You can work out if your money has or is being well spent. It's also a pointer to what might be happening within other RD&E outfits in other Agricultural industries. I hope you enjoy.
