Episode Synopsis

Our 30s can be a time when we start to wonder if the job we're doing is sustainable for the long-term. Is there a better way to live, or at least, a life that isn't so darn hard and tiring? This week, we're joined by Michael Guo, one of the hardest-working people we know. As a surgeon in his early 30s, Michael's success follows a journey of unrelenting hard work and a pursuit of excellence. We want to find out what drives and motivates him, so that maybe we too can learn his secret. In this fascinating conversation, Michael discusses how he believes you have to simply 'work with the cards that you're dealt', no matter what. This opportunistic and adaptable mindset saw him pivoting from counting mice as a pharmacology student to becoming a surgeon. Along the way, Michael developed a passion that meant the hard work itself became the motivation and reward.
* Technical note: Ge's video didn't record successfully this week, which is why the video only includes David and Michael. But her audio is there. Sorry about that!
