Listen "Housing development at former W.T. Laing site in Wallaceburg taking shape, shovels going into the ground in July"
Episode Synopsis
A long-anticipated housing development at the former W.T. Laing Public School site, located at 800 Elizabeth Street in Wallaceburg, is taking shape.
Rico Bray, a real estate agent with Realty House Inc., told the Sydenham Current shovels are set to go into the ground in July 2025.
Bray, who is working with the developers Trident Builders, caught up with Dana Haggith for an interview.
Bray also shared some more details about the different styles available at the development:
Jasper Model
"This is a ranch style home that offers two bed, two baths, top notch finishes and an unfinished basement (to keep the price low)," Bray said.
"Leaving an unfinished basement, allows the buyers for a lower price and the buyers can finish themselves and increase their value."
Banff Model
"It's a raised ranch that offers multi-generational living," Bray said.
"Main level has two bed, two baths, full kitchen (quartz countertops, buyer can pick colour, style, etc.) Lower Level (separate entrance) offers two beds, two baths, full kitchen as well."
The project was given the green light by Municipality of Chatham-Kent Council on Monday night, November 28, 2022.
An application for a Draft Plan of Subdivision and Zoning By-Law Amendment was unanimously approved by Council for the 800 Elizabeth Street location.
