In Luke 2:41-52, the narrative recounts an event from Jesus' childhood when he was twelve years old. His parents, Mary and Joseph, went to Jerusalem for the Passover festival, as was their custom. After the festival, they began their journey home, assuming Jesus was with them, but they realized he was missing. They returned to Jerusalem and found him three days later in the temple, sitting among the teachers, listening, and asking questions. All who heard him were amazed at his understanding.
