Listen "3-22-22: Shoeless Joe never got a second chance"
Episode Synopsis
I would love to hear from you, just send me text and let me know what you think of the podcast.Yesterday I talked about forgiveness and today I want to talk about second chances. Shoeless Joe Jackson is known for being a part of the “Black Sox” scandal when a group of players agreed to throw the World Series in exchange for money. Jackson tried to warn the commissioner, he was found not guilty in court but he kept $5,000 that the mob gave him and he was banished from baseball forever, leaving behind a career .356 batting average. Jackson carried the shame of his ban throughout his life as he went back to South Carolina and was a small business owner. I think if it were today he would have gotten a second chance and I think he deserved one. After all, the story of the bribery doesn’t tell the whole story of the corruption of the owners at the time. The purpose of today’s story is to focus on the importance of second chances. If we were all judged by our worst mistake almost all of us would be ruined and tossed aside, yet most of us get second chances. So ask yourself if there is anyone in your life who you’ve been hesitant to give a second chance to and think about whether you should reconsider.
