Episode Synopsis

This is part of the series of podcasts by African School of Governance and Policy Studies. The podcasts are aimed at stimulating debates and changing systems and practices of governance in Africa. In this episode, we argue that social capital has been lacking in Africa. Inability to collaborate with one another as Africans has roots in our past. Contestation for spaces, greed and drive for personal accumulation undermine the task of nation-building and delivery of public good. Africans need a new paradigm of thought in ways that can facilitate mutual trust, cooperation and patronage.
