Listen "On having choices and the outdated structure of corporate work with Lisa Kissane"
Episode Synopsis
If there’s one thing I have had a nonstop passion for since the moment I became a professional, it’s the idea that the corporate workspace as we know it is archaic and outdated.
From inflexible scheduling to being forced to work in-office, the established corporate expectation no longer makes sense for the majority of employees. Back when I started my career, the thought of working remotely and on a personalized schedule was but a dream, but after the pandemic, we were shown that business could, in fact get done from wherever, and whenever it made the most sense. This new sense of possibility opened up opportunities for so many employees who thrive with a “outside the corporate box” setup.
Yet, many corporate entities are ignoring these facts and attempting to have everyone settle back into the old way, causing large quantities of employees to quit that lifestyle and venture out on their own. (Spoiler alert: not the “risky” decision society might make you want to believe it is!)
On today’s Reprogramming, I speak with a copywriter who realized her health and wellbeing mattered much more than fitting into a corporate mold. We discuss why many white-collar jobs are still stuck in this old way of doing business, and what life looks like on the other side, as a freelancer and small business owner.
Lisa Kissane is a freelance copywriter on a mission to make well-being services more accessible for everyone. Through her business, Silvertongue Copywriting, she supports wellbeing practitioners and organizations, specializing in sales-focused writing such as websites and emails. But, without the ick of traditional marketing methods.
