Welcome to the Pining For Pixels podcast! This is my video game variety show podcast, part of the Red Rooster's Gaming Coop network where I talk gaming and gaming culture every week. Each episode will feature a subject or theme that interests me, and I will speak about what is on my mind in the world of video games!Happy Halloween! This episode of video game book club is focussed on Resident Evil 8 Village, the latest release in the Resident Evil timeline. This is the perfect game to play during October in the lead up to Halloween. Really any Resident Evil game would fit that role quite nicely, such as the recently released Resident Evil 4 Remake, but RE8 features some great classic horror callbacks with a focus on vampires and werewolves, so I wanted to hone in on this one. As Resident Evil fans know though, there is more than meets the eye to this story than simple vampires and werewolves. Possibly one of the most interesting games story-wise, and I would argue setting wise as well. RE8 and its subsequent DLC expansion Shadows of Rose complete the story of Ethan Winters and family, and revisit an eastern European village setting to great effect. This entry features one of the most unnerving encounters in the franchise's history and one of the most memorable villainous characters: Lady Dimitrescu whom you may recognize as the face of the game in the marketing for it.
