Listen "The Weight We Carry: To Understand Rather Than Be Understood"
Episode Synopsis
We often don’t realize the weight our words, behaviors, and presence carry in the lives of others. Sometimes we choose friendships based on unhealthy patterns, like shared drinking habits, because they help us justify our own behavior. We offer alibis for solitude, making excuses when we want to be left alone. I feel a deep craving in to be left alone and understood at the same time, forgetting that others are also shaped by their unseen pain and unspoken battles. We have a ripple effect on each other, whether we’re aware of it or not. When I stop trying to control how people perceive me and focus instead on understanding others, my thinking becomes more rational and compassionate. I try to stop chasing validation and live from a place of responsibility. For years, alcohol was an invisible authority in my life. But today, I know I have choices. There’s freedom in focusing on what I can control and choosing to understand others rather than needing to be understood.Listen and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts and YouTube.
