Listen "Survivor to Warrior: Stroke Warrior Radio Meets Recovery Daily"
Episode Synopsis
Don’t miss my first podcast interview ever! Ralph Cortese, broadcaster and executive producer of Stroke Warrior Radio, joined me to discuss dual recovery, while we also uncovered some surprising similarities between us. Suffering a stroke in 2015, he said recovery was the hardest thing he’d ever done, but also the most rewarding. For the first seven years, it was slow, frustrating, and full of anger and uncertainty. When someone told him, “this is as good as it gets,” he struggled with depression and complete loss of identity. He had to figure it out on his own, until he realized, “there were others like me.” That’s why Ralph started Stroke Warrior Radio, to ensure no stroke survivor ever had to go through the uncertainty that he did. Once he became his own advocate, firing doctors who weren’t helping, searching for the right therapies, and learning everything he could about stroke recovery, he finally started making real progress. Ralph wants to give other stroke warriors the resources, hope, and understanding that small victories matter. One day at a time isn’t just for addiction recovery. It’s for stroke recovery too. Ralph is living proof that recovery is possible. He went from relying on a cane to running on an underwater treadmill, because he refused to accept that this is as good as it gets. Now, his mission is to help others fight for their recovery and keep pushing even when the experts say they’ve reached their limit. Ralph knows firsthand that there’s always more ahead.Listen and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts and YouTube. Listen to Stroke Warrior Radio here: https://www.strokewarriorradio.com/.
