Listen "Self-Care Vs Selfishness: Giving To Your Whole Self"
Episode Synopsis
Self-care is strategic maintenance of our whole selves, not just the version of you that is present on any given day. When I take an outdoor walk, get enough sleep, or enjoy a hobby, I’m refueling so that I can be present for the rest of life and those around me. I think clearer, my emotions soften, and I have leftovers to nourish my relationships.Selfishness looks similar on the surface, but the motives are entirely different. Selfishness feeds your desires in the moment without consideration of others. Balance is achieved from honest check-ins, clear boundaries, regular routines, and communication. Ask yourself if your choices nourish you and improve how you show up for others. If they leave a wake of guilt, course correct. Ensuring that you are giving to your whole self, sets you up for sustainable self-care that can benefit you and others.By no means am I saying that if you want that vanilla ice cream cone you are selfish. We’ll call that spiritual self-care!Listen and subscribe wherever you get your podcasts and YouTube.
