"The Unexpected Joy of Being Sober is like sitting in an AA meeting, listening to someone share their story. It's raw, it's real, and it's relatable." That's why I'm giving this book a solid 3 Woofs on our Weimaraner and Bulldog Scale. It's engaging, it's enjoyable, and most importantly, it's an honest, solid read.

Listen to today's episode to hear my take on this month's Reads and Recovery book. In "The Unexpected Joy of Being Sober," Catherine Gray shares her candid and often humorous take on what it's like to live life on the sober side of the street. This book made me proud, really proud, to be sober. It's like Gray is reminding us that, hey, choosing sobriety? That's the new cool. And she's not wrong. 😎
Gray provides a necessary reminder that alcohol doesn't discriminate. It can take the opportunities of a lifetime and turn them into dust, something I've felt in my own skin, recounting all the missed opportunities due to my drinking. It set me back a solid 20 years in my career if I were to bet.
For those of you who are "sober curious," as the kids are saying these days, this book is definitely helpful. She provides actionable information to help you clean up your act if you are interested.
