Even as young adults our kids are always watching us. Heck, I'm still watching my parents, learning as they approach different experiences in their lives. Our kids see how we interact with the world, how we care for ourselves, and how we navigate stuff in our lives. They're absorbing our actions, our attitudes, and our resilience in ways we don’t notice.
From the way we talk to ourselves in the mirror, nurturing
our self-esteem, to the respect we show for our belongings and our home, every action is a display of how to do things. How we manage our time, our relationships, our emotions—they're all chapters in the manual we're unwittingly writing for our children.
Listen today for a focus on demonstrating hope and courage for our kids, even if its not always both on any given day. Tomorrow I’ll talk about demonstrating transparency and educating kids by example rather than lecturing (which drives me crazy), modeling physical and emotional self-care (emotional intelligence), and living a life with purpose, passions, and being of service to others.
