Listen "Creativity In Vestibular Recovery: From Limitation to Inspiration"
Episode Synopsis
Living with a vestibular disorder means adapting to a new way of life, and for many of us, that includes redefining how we spend our time. Some of us are medically retired due to our condition, leaving us searching for purpose and fulfillment in ways that accommodate our symptoms. Creativity can be an incredible tool for recovery, self-expression, and connection. Yesterday I hosted a virtual meetup at the VEDA conference to explore the creative hobbies that have helped us navigate vestibular challenges, whether it’s painting, sewing, crafting, jewelry making, woodworking, writing, music, or any other activity that brings us joy. We shared what works, what doesn’t, and how we’ve learned to adapt our passions to fit within our limits. We had show-and-tell, exchanged ideas, inspired one another, and discovered new creative outlets we hadn’t considered before. Creativity helps me thrive despite my limitations. Whether you’re an experienced artist or just starting to explore what’s possible with a vestibular disorder, you’re welcome to join us next month.
