Listen "Where Did The Turkeys Go: Habitat Loss vs Predation"
Episode Synopsis
With spring around the corner, we're approaching one of our favorite times of the year: turkey season! Nothing beats getting set in the morning and hearing gobbles ring out in every direction. Whether you're hunting with a shotgun or a bow, turkey hunting still provides one heck of a rush! However, certain states have seen a major hit and decline in their turkey populations over the years. Some states, like Nebraska, have even reduced the number of tags per hunter from three birds to two. So, what has been the major cause of this decline in gobblers? We break down some of our theories and take a look into fur trapping studies to try to develop some reasons for our turkey decline. We also want to hear from you on how your turkey numbers are and your ideas on why they might be low!
