Elton was born and raised in the tough neighbourhood of Westbury, Johannesburg, where the influence of gangs and drugs was prevalent and opportunities were limited. When presented with opportunities Elton made the most of then and embraced any opportunity to learn. He leveraged his experiences gained while working for prominent companies and drew from his understanding of the challenges faced by disadvantaged communities, to create Fassernate.
