We were driving across West Texas talking about the amazing geology of the Franklin Mountains on our way to the WTGS Fall Symposium in the Fall of 2021… Then we looked to the North and saw these talc mines all over the place around Van Horn, Texas!! We instantly made a post to get more information on this and like magic, the community responded and we made it a live show with Ben Davis! The guy who happens to be a damn near legend in the Permian Basin AND did his master’s thesis on the rocks! LETS GOOOOOOOO - - - - Talc is potentially an indication of major hydrothermalism and could be associated with the hydrothermal oil in the Permian Basin, let’s dive in.
