A Psalm of Asaph.80 Oh, give ear, Shepherd of Israel, You who lead Joseph like a flock; You who are enthroned above the cherubim, shine forth!-        The title of this message is God implored to rescue his people from their calamitieso   sometimes we need to Implore Godo   beg someone earnestly or desperately to do something-        in this case Asaph was begging God to rescue His peopleo   notice Asaph refers to the people as His people (God’s people)o   to be rescued means saved-        From their calamitieso   an event causing great and often sudden damage or distress; a disastero   calamities is plural which means multiple such events-        For the choir director (so it’s meant to be a song, remembered and sang)-        Set to El Shoshannimo   El Shoshannim means “beauty of the innocent; pure, lily like virgins-        Eduth means “testimony” sometimes used to refer to the ten commandments-        A Psalm of Asaph which means “to gather or collect”-        Let me stitch this togethero   People begged God to be savedo   God put a song in their mouth and made them Lilly white (innocent)o   This is the testimony of God who will do it and gather them together -        Oh give ear, Shepherd of Israel, You who lead Joseph like a flocko   Asaph is asking the Shepherd of Israel to listen to His peopleo   There is only one Shepherd of Israel – Jesus Christ o   You who lead Joseph like a flock§  Joseph represents God’s people and they kept blowing it§  Like dumb sheep§  But God overlooked their stupidity and sin and cared for them anyway§  Joseph means “He will Add”§  God adds the sheep even with all their faults.§  And He will lead them like a flock (He moves them where necessary for their own good since they can’t help themselves)-        You who are enthroned above the Cherubim, shine forth!o   Notice where Jesus is “enthroned above the Cherubim in heaven”o   Seated in the most high place; a place of power and position of allo   Asaph wants to Him to shine forth (to allow the light to eliminate the darkness) 2 Before Ephraim and Benjamin and Manasseh, stir up Your power And come to save us!-        Ephraim – to be fruitfulo   Joseph produced sons in the land of affliction -        Benjamin – son of the right hando   A picture or type of Christ-        Manasseh – forgetting or evaporatingIntro to Outbless Weekly Thanks for listening to Outbless.com
