Do you judge [e]uprightly, O sons of men?-          The title of this message is prayer for the punishment of the wicked-          it may seem odd that Dave would pray for the punishment of the wicked but that is what this chapter is abouto   sometimes we just get sick and tired of being sick and tired of all the evil around us-          don't forget this is written for the choir director which means it was meant to be a song that would be learned and repeated for a specific purpose or a specific message-          it was set to Al-tashheth which we learned from chapter 57 means “destroy not”o   it may be that David was praying that God would not allow him to be destroyed by King Saul and his henchmen-          It is also a Mikhtam of David which means words that were worthy of being engraved in gold; the word of God is valuable and worthy to be engraved on golden tablets because of their eternal value and wisdom (David may have even had inscribed these words on the walls of the cave he hid in (the point is these words are valuable)-          Now we begin verse one of chapter 58-          do you indeed speak righteousness, O godso   notice the word gods is little Go   apparently, David is speaking to men who think they are gods because they are in a position of power, but they are not the God-          do you judge uprightly, O sons of men?o   David is posing a question which challenges the fairness of these leaderso   the tone of this question Seems to imply unfairnessNo, in heart you work unrighteousness On earth you weigh out the violence of your hands.-          No, in your heart you work son righteousness, o   it is no longer a question; David is answering it “no”-          on earth you weigh out the violence of your handso   Two way something out implies the use of a scaleo   it seems these judges may have been accepting bribes and we're making decisions to benefit themselves financially or some other side benefit not seeking the trutho   when judges or unrighteous it usually does lead to violenceIntro to Outbless Weekly Thanks for listening to Outbless.com
