Listen "Oregon's Defense Shines in Close Quarters"

Episode Synopsis

On November tenth, a controversial play in the Oregon vs. Wisconsin football game raised questions about the likelihood of safeties in similar situations. Since 2015, about 6.35% of drives starting on the offenses one-yard line have ended in a safety. Oregons defense hasnt forced a safety since 2015, but their special teams, particularly punter James Ferguson-Reynolds, have been exceptional at pinning opponents deep. This season, Ferguson-Reynolds has placed five punts inside the five-yard line and three more inside the ten. Oregons overall defense has shown significant improvement, especially when defending short fields. Their upcoming game against USC will test their secondary against a high-powered passing attack, but their improved defense and special teams give them a strong advantage. The Daily News Now! - Every city.
