The beatitudes mean blessedness. These are teachings of Jesus Christ about those things we do that attract blessings to us. One of it is showing mercy, it attracts obtaining mercy too. Another is seeking after righteousness, Jesus says we will be filled with it, that means even though the true gospel preaching is scarce nowadays, if we thirst for the truth, God will direct us to where we will find the truth. Another blessing is when we stand for the truth not minding the persecutions, it will attract blessings from heaven. Heaven will always come through for us even while in this world miraculously in ways we could not have thought of.
