Have you ever asked God for something you didn’t get?  Have you ever had God give you what you wanted, but much later than you wanted it?  These situations can be a struggle on a person’s faith.  They can make a person wonder if God hears them, if He really cares about them, or if He’s really capable of answering prayer.  There are certainly times when we pray and ask God for specific things to happen a certain way or by a certain time and God grants those requests.  Other times, God has a better plan than we do or He has a better timing than we do and we simply have to trust Him.
Before the miraculous birth of Jesus, there was another miraculous birth.  Before the foretold birth of the Messiah, was the foretold birth of another man.  Just like Mary and Joseph would not have chosen God’s timing for the baby to be born (during a census that placed them in an over-crowded town with no rooms available), nor the method of Mary’s conception (where Joseph nearly called off their engagement), the parents of the man we are going to talk about in this episode likely also would not have chosen the timing that God gave them their son or the method in which He did things.  Still, hopefully this episode will show you that things are always best in God’s way and in God’s timing.
