Listen "Why Anansi Lives in Dark Corners"
Episode Synopsis
# Why Anansi Lives in Dark CornersEgya Anansi, a skilled but greedy farmer, cultivated a magnificent harvest with his wife and son. Not wishing to share, he cleverly sent his family back to their village, claiming he needed to travel to the coast on business. Instead, he built a hut near the farm and secretly feasted alone on their shared harvest. After two weeks, Anansi's son visited the farm to weed it and discovered much of their harvest missing. Suspecting thieves, the villagers helped create a sticky rubber man to catch the culprit. That night, the greedy Anansi encountered this figure and, receiving no response to his questions, struck it in anger. His hand stuck fast, and in trying to free himself, Anansi became completely attached to the rubber trap. At daybreak, his son and the villagers discovered him. Overwhelmed with shame at being caught in his act of selfishness, Anansi transformed himself into a spider and retreated to a dark corner of the ceiling. This explains why spiders still prefer dusty, hidden corners where they won't be noticed by people.https://mythopia.io/story/814/why-spiders-are-always-found-in-the-corners-of-ceilings
