By the time he finished visiting the rabbit, monkey, tortoise, hare, squirrel, mouse, fox, and hog, all eight of his legs were connected to different cooking pots. When the meals were simultaneously ready, all eight webs were tugged at once, pulling Ananse's legs in different directions. In desperation, he jumped into a river to free himself from the webs.
