The Apostle concludes his list of faithful Old Testament saints with those who continued in faith even though they were not delivered from death. Their testimony was that they believed in a better resurrection and so thought nothing of losing their life in this world. He argues that these saints believed in the promise of the Messiah to come and held fast. So, we who now live on the other side of the cross can now look back at the fulfillment of those promises in the finished work of Jesus Christ.
