Today's subject is the ancient Greco-Roman city of Pompeii, and how it was both destroyed and preserved by the Plinian eruption of nearby Mount Vesuvius, near Naples, Italy. I will talk about the ancient society and local customs, I will time travel with you to the day of the eruption and we will try to escape.
