Doug was raised Catholic, but learned in school about pioneer history and the “deceiver,” Joseph Smith. During Doug’s college years, he left Catholicism and eventually married. When his wife and him moved to West Virginia, they were introduced to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through Doug’s work. After their first visit with missionaries, they dismissed the LDS faith.
