As Iran moves closer to nuclear weapons capability and enriches uranium to just under the threshold for a bomb, the region faces increased threats and greater instability. The United States and Israel have held exercises in CENTCOM with regional partners to help ensure that Iran will not get “the bomb.” But what will it take to create a firm coalition that could a) deter the Islamic Republic or b) eliminate the nuclear weapons capability?
Brigadier General (Ret.) Amir Avivi is the Founder and CEO of Israel’s Defense and Security Forum (IDSF), and comprised of more than 17,000 senior reserve/retired officers, commanders and operators from all branches of the Israeli security establishment. Retired from the IDF after more than 30 years of military, counter terrorism, and national security experience, he held various command positions in the Corps of Engineers leading thousands of soldiers in a dynamic environment combating terrorism.
