Episode Synopsis

Get in touch with us! We’d appreciate your feedback and comments. Karina Hollekim  is a Norwegian free skier and BASE jumper. She is the first female athlete to complete a ski BASE. In August 2006 she had a near-fatal crash after her parachute failed during a routine parachuting jump. She hit the ground at over 100 km/h (60 mph), and her legs were fractured in 21 places.  Although doctors said she would never walk again, after 20 surgeries she has recovered and was back skiing in 2007.Her biographical movie 20 Seconds of Joy won both the Best film on Mountainsports as well as the People's choice awards at the 2007 Banff Mountain Film Festival. In November 2011 Hollekim published her autobiography (co-authored with Odd Harald Hauge), The Wonderful Feeling of Fear (Den vidunderlige: følelsen av frykt) with Gyldendal Publishing.[In this episode, Karina and I discuss the following questions and  topics:How did you get into base jumping? What were your first impressions? What was it like?Could you describe what happened to you in 2006 over Lake Geneva, Switzerland? What was your recovery like? How did you deal with your emotions and thoughts?Where did you place your focus? How did you mentally and emotionally get back in the game?REFERENCES:Den vidunderlige følelsen av fryktby Karina HollekimKarina Hollekim fylte sitt liv og sitt indre med den vidunderlige følelsen av frykt, for å føle at hun levde. Karina's contact information:  Website:        https://www.karinahollekim.noFacebook:      @KarinaHollekimInstagram:      @KarinaHollekimLinkedIN:        @KarinaHollekimSign up for the weekly IT'S AN INSIDE JOB NEWSLETTERtakes 10 seconds to fill outreceive a fresh update every WednesdaySupport the showSign up for the weekly IT'S AN INSIDE JOB NEWSLETTER takes 5 seconds to fill out receive a fresh update every Wednesday
