I am a senior scientist at the South African Institute for Aquatic Biodiversity (SAIAB) in Grahamstown/Makhanda, South Africa. I am the Principal Investigator of the Indigenous Marine Innovations for sustainable Environments and Economies (IMIsEE) Project funded by South Africa’s National Research Foundation. The focus of this research is to use innovative nature-based approaches that can offer opportunities to counteract the adverse impacts of coastal built environment by improving the values of coastal habitats in terms of early stage usage, functioning and diversity.
